Dr Charles Potter founded Caretek Medical Ltd in September 2001 to develop the ImplaJect technology – a novel needle-free drug delivery technology for the injection of drugs and vaccines in a solid dosage form.
The key dates and achievements for the Company, which is now called Glide Pharma, are shown below:-

| March 2005 | Attracted first round equity funding from Oxford Technology Venture Capital Trusts and local business angels. This funding followed excellent data in the clinical study and the signing of a feasibility study with a major global pharmaceutical company |
| June 2005 | First patent granted in the UK |
| October 2005 | Relocated to current facilities at Milton Park |
| December 2005 | First significant fundraising round of £2.1M completed |
| January 2006 | Signed feasibility agreement with major global pharmaceutical company to investigate the delivery of one of its protein therapeutics with the ImplaJect technology |
| September 2006 | Company name changed to Glide Pharmaceutical Technologies Limited. |
| June 2007 | Glide Pharma won overall winner of Medical Futures Innovation Awards 2007 |
| August 2007 | Secured additional £2.3 million in an oversubscribed private funding round |
| October 2008 | Secured further £2.2 million in private funding round |
| March 2009 | Completion of fentanyl phase I study for Glide fentanyl |
| February 2010 | Completed a further oversubscribed £2.7 million funding round |
| March 2010 | Completed successful phase I study for Glide octreotide |
