About Us - History

Dr Charles Potter founded Caretek Medical Ltd in September 2001 to develop the ImplaJect technology – a novel needle-free drug delivery technology for the injection of drugs and vaccines in a solid dosage form.  The key dates and achievements for the Company, which is now called Glide Pharma, are shown below:-

September 2001 – Company founded under the name of Caretek Medical Limited with seed funding from Dr Charles Potter.

March 2002 – Attracted Smart Award from the UK Department of Trade and Industry to demonstrate the feasibility of the needle-less ImplaJect drug delivery technology

November 2003 - Raised equity ‘seed’ finance in November 2003 from the Oxford Technology 3 Venture Capital Trust based on the prototype devices and excellent non-clinical data achieved in the feasibility studies.  This funding was attracted to undertake a clinical study with the technology.

March 2005 – Attracted first round equity funding from Oxford Technology Venture Capital Trusts and local business angels.  This funding followed excellent data in the clinical study and the signing of a feasibility study with a major global pharmaceutical company. 

March 2005 – Following the successful fund raising an experienced Board and Management Team were put in place.

June 2005 – First patent granted in the UK.

October 2005 - Relocated to current facilities at Milton Park where feasibility, formulation, device design, integration and commercial operations are carried out.

December 2005 - Attracted second round equity funding to take own sumatriptan product through bioequivalence clinical trials.  Included follow-on funding from the Oxford Technology Venture Capital Trusts and business angels.

January 2006 – Signed feasibility agreement with major global pharmaceutical company to investigate the delivery of one of its protein therapeutics with the ImplaJect technology.

July 2006 – Company name changed to Glide Pharmaceutical Technologies Limited to better reflect its position as a specialty pharmaceutical company leveraging its novel, needle-free drug delivery technology, which was re-branded as Glide™ technology.
